Gearboxes are designed to adjust the number of revolutions. The speed and direction of rotation can be influenced with a set of gears or worm gear sets. The number of revolutions is often reduced and so the torque increases. In drive technology, right-angle gearboxes are often used to direct a rotating movement at right angles. Gear units and gearboxes are available in many variants.
