Hoist gearbox PIV

This gearbox type PIV PD75-R11-V25 is regularly checked by means of an oil analysis. During this check it was noticed that the metal particles in the oil increased.

Renew pinion shaft

At a certain point the number of metal particles increased dramatically. 

The customer decided to disassemble and inspect the gearbox. During this inspection Boone technicians found a broken pinion shaft and some worn bearings. 

The pinion shaft (hardened and ground) was manufactured in 3 weeks. The gearwheel has been ground at the teeth to remove some damage. After this, the gearbox was assembled with new bearings and seals. 

After the assembly on the container crane, the gearbox has been put back into operation.
