The ‘voorsluis’ in Eefde is part of the older lock complex that is only used during low tide. If there is a risk that the ships will hit the bottom of the actual lock, the extra intermediate step is used so that sufficient water is available. An equal bearing support was achieved in the existing limited space, which can be better aligned with the tooth segment. Because the segment is permanently mounted on the lock gate, there had to be quite a bit of room for adjustment. With a joint effort, a well-thought-out design was achieved that guarantees passage through the lock even at low tide.
