The friction lining appeared to be burnt, the lining had become too thin and crumbled. The seals also appeared to be in poor condition. It is probably a combination of air leakage and too thin linings that caused the clutch to slip.
Boone checked the coupling parts for dimensions and installed new parts. After this, the coupling was tested for function and tightness.
