Bascule bridges N57 Stellendam

It was determined during regular maintenance that the bearings of the electric engines were in poor condition. Because an extra encoder had been added to the installation in the past, a construction was created with extra plastic gears. They wanted to change this construction at the same time as the replacement of the engines. During the major maintenance of the bascule bridges, the new engines were installed on which a compact lantern with mounting options for the new encoders was placed. By applying this option, in addition to a lot of extra safety and stability, faster installation is also possible, which means that the night-time closure of the N57 was more than sufficient to achieve this.
