The Wärtsilä bow thruster is powered by an E-motor. A gear coupling is mounted between the bow thruster unit and the E-motor.
Due to a lack of (grease) lubrication the gear coupling became damaged. Such that the E-motor no longer had a connection with the bow thruster. Therefore, the ship required a tugboat for assistance upon arrival and departure from the port.
The manufacturer of the bow thruster stated a long delivery time for the gear coupling. As a solution, Boone has adapted a standard coupling from stock. The shipping company was able to have a working installation again within a week. The specific bore with oil pressure system was installed in a few days. The quick solution with a competitive price was much appreciated.
Boone has also provided lubrication advice and supplied high-quality grease for several other ships in this fleet with identical bow thruster units.
