Flender GSP1 320 dredge pump gearbox

On board an IHC cutter suction dredger type Beaver 1200 a Flender dredge pump gearbox type GSP1 320 with integrated thrust bearing is installed. The gearbox clutch did not disengage any more, the clutch seemed stuck. When the engine was started, the dredge pump started running immediately; a situation which is not required.

Boone completely dismantled and inspected the gearbox in the workshop after disassembly from board. The clutch was overheated and the clutch plates were burned, causing the clutch to remain engaged.

The parts have been replaced by new parts from stock. In addition, a number of parts have been repaired and the gearbox has been mounted. After this, a test run was carried out in our workshop.

The customer was able to put the gearbox back into service within two weeks.
