This caused the impeller to turn away from the pump shaft, which caused an axial force on the gearbox. As a result, the casing showed cracks.
After the inspection on board the ladder, it was decided to dismantle the unit in the workshop. The gearbox was completely removed from board for this purpose.
The gear teeth have been checked and are still in good condition. The gearbox casing was repaired by method of welding locally. All dimensions and alignment of bores were checked after the repair. Some parts were renewed and manufactured on-site. The gearbox has been mounted with new bearings and seals.
After assembly of the gearbox, it was transported on board and aligned with the E-motor and dredge pump shaft.
