After 30 years of service, these 2 propulsion gearboxes were due for an overhaul.
Boone removed both gearboxes from the ship and completely disassembled them in the workshop.
After inspection, a number of repairs and modifications were carried out. After this, the gearboxes were completely reassembled and equipped with new bearings, seals, friction plates, plate carriers, piston rings and bushes.
Both propulsion gearboxes were tested after installation and checked for correct operation, leaks and vibrations. The gearboxes were found to be in order and brought on board, after which the alignment was checked.
As a final check, a trial run was carried out.
