Following this inspection, it was decided to completely overhaul the gearbox. Damage occurred to both the bearings and the gears because bearing damage was not identified in time. In addition to bearings and seals, the gears and friction plates have also been replaced and the housing has been adjusted at the bearing seats. Boone completed the repair in 5 weeks.
After the gearbox was taken to the test stand by the customer, our technicians installed the gearbox on the hopper dredger and aligned it.
