Stromag elastische coupling

A problem was found on board a tugboat with the bearing of the elastic coupling with Periflex element and cardan shaft combination, which drives the thruster. Following an inspection, it became apparent that the bearings of the coupling were damaged.

Activities: Replacing bearings

In addition to replacing the bearings, various spacer bushes and labyrinths have been replaced. The paired bearing set was rebuilt and installed with the correct clearance. Boone completed the repair in 4 days.

After the repair, the coupling was delivered on board and mounted by the crew. During the test run, the coupling was found to be in order and the ship was able to continue its work without further delay.
