The bearing was damaged due to an incorrect oil lubrication system. This was noticed too late, because there is no monitoring of the gearbox.
This has caused consequential damage to the teeth of this pinion shaft. Because this damage has been continued for a while, another toothing has also been damaged.
Boone has replaced the complete gear internal. Because we had material in stock, we were able to produce it quickly. After being installed on the container crane, the gearbox was put back into operation.
We have recommended installing an oil pump to ensure sufficient lubrication to the bearings and gears.
