ASUG gearbox overhaul

During an inspection on board this trailing suction hopper dredger a broken tooth of the propulsion gearbox was detected.

Overhaul ASUG gearbox GJZ 880

Boone disassembled and inspected the gearbox. Besides the gear damage, no further damage has been found. 

The manufacturer could deliver the gear wheel in 11 weeks. Thereupon a new gear wheel (Ø 2200 mm, hardened and ground) has been manufactured by C.u.W. Keller GmbH, Troisdorf within 5 weeks.  

After transport, Boone installed the new gear wheel and completed the gearbox. All contact pattern, teeth and bearing tolerances have been checked.  

The gearbox was tested by a trial run to the full satisfaction of the customer.
