The hydraulic disc coupling got stuck during the neutral position. Because of this, the propeller kept turning. During disassembly and inspection on board, the disc carrier seemed hammered by the friction plates. Due to this the friction plates remain in engaged position. The gears have been inspected and found to be in good condition.
During the inspection it appeared that two bearing pockets were damaged by the rotating bearings to such an extent, that they exceed the tolerances. The bearing pockets were machined on location. After that the bearings have been adjusted to fit the housing again. The input shaft has been provided with new bearings, friction plates and disc carrier.
After successful installation of the gearbox, a test run was carried out to complete satisfaction. The gear unit could be put back into use.
